Where can I find information about smoking pot among adolescents?

Answer

Try one of the following databases to find journal articles that address different aspects of this issue:

  • MEDLINE (for health-related aspects)
  • PsycINFO (for psychological aspects)
  • Social Services Abstracts (for social work/social policy aspects)
  • SocINDEX (for sociological/criminological aspects)

To get to these databases, go to View Electronic Resources drop-down menu on the Priddy Library website and log-in by your institution.  Then type the name of the database in the "by database name" search box.  This search will let you know if your institution owns the database.  If so, click on the database link and do a search using keywords.

Thinking of synonyms can often help you search effectively (e.g. trying "marijuana" instead of "pot").  Also, check the "limits" sections of these databases.  They sometimes let you limit to a particular age group, like adolescents.
