Reference materials must stay in the library and are therefore unavailable to check out. 

Reference books (encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, etc.) have many short entries on a broad range of topics.  This makes them helpful to many people who are starting their research or who need quick information about a subject.  Because of this, we want to make sure these books are available to users by always keeping them in the library.

Many reference books are also available as e-books.  You can find them by doing an advanced search in the library catalog and selecting "E-Books" under "format."
