Is Priddy Library open to the public?

Is the library only for USG students, or can anyone use it?

Answer

Priddy Library is open to the public!  This means that members of the general public are welcome to visit the library - such as to study, or read any of the books we have on-hand - during our standard hours of operation.

However, while we're open to the public, we are not a public library, so certain services are only available to students, faculty, or staff.  These include things like making study room reservations, accessing some of our web resources, and printing.

Some services may be available to other demographics, such as affiliates of other USM universities who can request items be sent to Priddy Library for pickup, and MCPS employees, who are eligible for limited borrowing status.  For more information, please email us at shadylib@umd.edu.
